Robert Michael Davidson

August 14, 1941 - March 16, 2021

Reverend Robert Michael Davidson died unexpectedly from complications from Parkinson's Disease on March 16, 2021 at Park Creek Place in North Wales, Pennsylvania at the ripe old age of 79 years, 7 months, and 3 days. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pamela Ann Hermann Davidson, and his four sons Eric, Andrew, Kent, and Ryan.

"Robin" was born in 1941 in Philadelphia as the third child (second son) of parents William Maurice Davidson and Sarah Harrison Frye Davidson, and is survived by his older brother Richard 'Dick' Davidson, and is predeceased by his oldest sister Jean Louise Cox. He had the privilege of being the first graduating class of the newly formed Harriton High School in Lower Merion, where he then matriculated to Lehigh University and got his B.A. in Economics.

After college, "Bob" joined the Army and achieved First Lieutenant rank by 1965. Post-service, first career opportunity was at tech pioneer IBM where he met and courted his future wife. "Rob" used the lessons learned at 10 years at IBM to start his own consulting business, Timesharing Consultants, Inc. at the outset of the microcomputer revolution in 1980 and had a successful career developing accounting systems and software for clients in the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia area.

His five grandchildren were asked to call him "Vidly" as his continued education achieved his Master of Divinity degree at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) in 2008. As a seminarian he served as a Sunday school teacher, lector, chalice bearer, Education For Ministry (EFM) graduate, vestry member, prison volunteer, Diocesan stewardship chair, and parish Verger as well as serving the members of the Philadelphia Cathedral, St. James Downingtown, and Calvary-St. Augustine in West Philadelphia. He said that one of the greatest days in his life was June 6, 2009 when he was ordained to the sacred order of Deacons by Bishop Edward Lee.

The newly ordained "Reverend Rob" then served the members and clergy of St. Paul's Church, Chestnut Hill, where he was fond of sung liturgy, Evensong, preaching, and all parish gatherings. He was also known for his wicked sense of humor and continued serving faithfully and without complaining even when his health was in slow decline and threatened to hinder him from carrying out his charge as a deacon until he retired in 2019.

Memorial services will be at noon on June 19, 2021 and held at St. Thomas Church in Whitemarsh with a reception afterwards at the Parish House. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation. An online guestbook and photo galleries will be hosted at the family website: 4suns.com
